Play Partners is a service dedicated to creating short breaks for children and young people with special needs, between 5 and 16 years old. The service provides one-to-one support, enabling children to access mainstream activities of their choice and whenever possible, in their local community. Example of activities include local Brownie or Scout group, leisure centre, youth clubs, vocational courses or dance and drama groups. The short term support encourages children to meet new people and be more independent, but it also helps the settings to become fully inclusive and cater for the child’s needs.
All children must be referred to Play Partners through Scope Leeds. Ana Ardelean co-ordinates the Play Partners project. To find out more call 0113 2495920
