LEEDS PLAY NETWORK is a Registered Charity and Company Limited by Guarantee and is made up of both voluntary and paid workers and managed by a voluntary committee of play-oriented people.
The group came together in 1988 with the aims of
v Increasing people’s awareness of the importance of play
v Creating new, and improve existing, play provision
v Training, advising and supporting playworkers
v Involving parents and carers in planning children’s play in their local area
v Working with other groups to improve children’s play choices
v Developing and implementing the Leeds Play Strategy
Leeds Play Network is able to provide specialist training for group leaders and playworkers at community venues across the city. We also mail out a monthly newsletter, “Playin’ Leeds” to approximately 800 individuals, Out of School groups and Playschemes currently on our database (this number is steadily growing).
Over the years Leeds Play Network have developed many projects throughout Leeds, offering fun-days, the RE-PLAY resource centre, play training as well as excellent business training and advice. As an umbrella organisation, we are now involved in several projects, all related to the development of the ‘quality of play for children’.
The Trustees and workers regularly attend meetings and conferences to keep up to date with the latest information to pass on to groups.
Our office is staffed Monday to Friday, with an answer phone service for out of office hours.
