Leeds Play Network's Re-structure.

Welcome Nicki Turner as Leeds Play Network’s General Manager ...

Hi All,

Well, I have now been here for almost six years, treading the old finance mill, ensuring we remain financially compliant and continuing to support grantholders with the dreaded monitoring. Many of you may also remember me during the early Business Support days, back in the West wedge. I have thoroughly enjoyed my rather varied role and remain absolutely committed to delivering the best possible service to all current and future grantholders we may have the pleasure of working with.

We have recently experienced a number of changes, and have subsequently undertaken necessary re-structuring processes to support the future development of the organisation.

I would like to take this opportunity to re-introduce myself in my new role as the General Manager of LPN.

There are several responsibilities within my new role as I am sure you can imagine, but basically I hold Executive Leadership of all aspects of LPN and operational responsibility for the organisation as a whole.

I am also keen to remain involved with the Finance and Grant work here, although Cathie O’Brien is our part time Finance & Grant Administrator and will take the lead with any grant monitoring requirements.

I am looking forward to the future, with the continual development of the organisation being a major priority. Working alongside our dedicated, passionate team, I am confident that we will continue to strive towards further enhancement of play opportunities for children and young people across Leeds.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon !!

Nicki Turner

Welcome Bob Morse as Leeds Play Network’s Play Partnership Officer ...

I am delighted to inform you of my new post at Leeds Play Network (LPN)

This exciting new role allows me work with our many existing partners and create new relationships with others involved in children’s play and the rights of children. I continue to work with play settings, offering advice, training and support and to build on positive relationships. I hope to meet many more people in the next twelve months. As part of my new role I will explore ideas of how LPN can work with partners to everyone’s mutual benefit.

This is a time of challenge to think about new concepts and new working arrangements. Challenge also brings new opportunities.

Playwork is very much at the forefront in bringing about a positive change for children, to enhance their experiences through play and to enrich their development.

Play is firmly part of the national agenda with the Children’s Plan and then The Play strategy. We have seen positive government support in the form of Playbuilder and Pathfinder projects. Recognition of the importance of Play in children’s lives is still however subsumed by the need for protection the net result can be what is referred to “Cotton Wool Kids” whose development suffers as a consequence of adults being over protective.

Through my role I am intent on providing children the best opportunities for good quality play experiences which offer stimulation, satisfaction, enjoyment and fun.

Leeds is my city of birth and is very dear to my heart. I admire its energy, vibrancy and talent. I rejoice in its diversity and strength. I hope to serve Leeds Play Network and it’s city so that both can be recognised as beacons of things that stand for good.

I would also like to see our football team winning more matches.

So my new role allows me to continue as advocate for children’s play .My search for like-minded people continues.

See you soon?

Playfully

Bob
